Why did you miss The Good Lovelies last night?

You'll be kicking yourself now. It was, quite simply, phenomenal. Here's what a delighted audience member felt moved to email us, "I've just got back home from the Good Lovelies and I had to write to say what a fantastic gig, it was one of the best ever." Sums it up nicely. Anyway here's two clips to keep you going til they come back next year (we hope!).

It's those pesky Hot Seats again ...

Only kidding, we love these guys. And it was a great birthday present for me when they played at the house last Friday. I know all this stuff about them coming over for the Shetland Folk Festival is just a front, they travelled all the way from Virginia just for me [Dream on – D]. Anyway time to share some of the love/video from the night: I could have picked almost any song to show you, but this is one of my favourites. So heart felt ...

Let's hear it for Annlaug and Rannveig

Apologies to all those of you who came along on Sunday 15 April 2012 and have been dying to see a clip from this very special gig. Fiddle player, guitarist and singer Annlaug Børsheim appeared at the house with long-time collaborator Rannveig Djønne on button accordian. It was a magical night and people have been raving about it ever since. Here's your chance to see a bit of video showing the two Norwegians playing a song for Rannveig's niece Thora. Fabulous.

The Campbells grace the house concerts' stage

What an absolute treat we had last night when we welcomed the wonderful Campbells of Greepe to the house. Kenna Cambell takes the lead on this haunting song of love and loss from their native Skye. She is accompanied by her daughter Mary Ann Kennedy on piano. Providing backing vocals are Wilma Kennedy, Maggie Macdonald and Seumas Campbell. Sublime.

Martin Kershaw delights the house concerts audience last Friday

We had a fantastic time with Martin Kershaw on Friday. He appeared in the house with his quartet this time. Credit to Martin who was showcasing mostly his own compositions including this one about the Gormenghast antihero Steerpike. Martin, on saxophone, is ably backed by Paul Harrison on piano, Mario Caribé on bass and Doug Hough on drums. These guys are top class. We can't wait to see them play again.

One more sleep to The Bevvy Sisters ...

They're coming back to the house – the phenomenal Bevvy Sisters. And this time it's going to be a big farewell gig for James Mackintosh (drums) and Kaela Rowan (vocal) as it's the last time they'll be playing with the band for a while. So don't miss this very special night of celebration, and while you're waiting here's a great clip from their last barnstorming performance.
